Kids need to have fun too!
During the Good Neighbors Picnic special care is made to provide a fun filled experience for the children of homeless families. In addition to our picnic meal, children can “Go Fishing” for small gifts, have their faces painted, scale the climbing wall, ride horses, enjoy puppet shows and more.
The Columbus Literacy Council provides small books for the children to read and take with them.
You can help with:
- New or gently used small stuffed animals, handheld toys, and games that will fit in a child’scoat pocket.
- Backpacks filled with back-to-school items (pencils, crayons, notebooks, glue, rulers, etc.)
- Book bags that children can fill with books from the free store.
- Coloring or activity books and crayons
- Small puzzles
- Sponsoring children’s activities or arts and crafts projects for ages 2 to 17. Past activities have included face painting, creating beaded necklaces, finger-painting, and hosting a variety of carnival games and prizes.
